5 of My Favorite Quotes
6:00:00 PMA couple weeks ago, my husband started his second summer semester. One of his classes is online and his first assignment was to answer a "getting to know you" questionnaire. They asked everything from his favorite foods, to actors, and even favorite quotes. Each time my husband read one of the questions out loud, I tried to guess what his response would be. Honestly though, I had no idea what his favorite quote was. It's just not something we've talked about. So, I decided to create a list of my top five favorite quotes! I even took it one step farther and created printable artwork to match! Each piece will be available for purchase at the Perfectly Ambitious Shop! "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making plans." John Lennon
I don't quite remember where or when I heard this quote, but it has stuck with me for years! When I was younger, I used to have this oversized whiteboard in my room and it was covered in quotes. Anytime I redesigned my board, I always made sure that John Lennon's words went right up top! I tend to overplan my life, so this is a great reminder to try and enjoy the moment.
"I will hold myself to the standard of grace, not perfection" Emily Ley
This quote might sound familiar since it has been featured in two of my previous posts, PAB Feature: Rachel Kelley and Product Review: Shutterfly Mouse Pad. Ever since Rachel introduced me to these words, I have been reminding myself of them time and time again! As you guys know, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and that can become a problem. It holds me back from completing the things that I'm passionate about and stopping a project at the right time. So I especially need the reminder to hold myself to the standard of grace and I've been trying my best!
"A goal is a dream with a deadline." Napoleon Hill
Just as I am an over planner and a perfectionist, I am also goal oriented. For the longest time, I have planned my life out way in advance, set goals, and had ridiculously high expectations for myself. When I think about where I want to be in the future and my own definition of success, I think about this quote. Each task on my to-do list is just a small goal that will help me reach my dreams. It's easy to forget what we're working towards when we have to do the annoyingly tedious tasks, but in the end it will be 100% worth it! I use Napoleon Hill's quote to remind myself that everything I'm doing right now, will lead me towards my future success.
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
As I've mentioned before, I am a child of God and a firm believer in Christ. I've also shared with you that I have dealt with anxiety and depression for a long time. It's actually what lead to me starting my monthly verse of encouragement posts. If you've been reading them from the beginning, then you know that this was the first verse I used. It has been with me since I started my walk with God. I try to remind myself of these words every single day and I've even stamped it onto a special necklace for myself. Not only that, but I've also considered getting it tattooed on my wrist as a permanent reminder. I haven't done it yet, since I absolutely hate needles, but I still think about doing so from time to time!
"Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about." Wendy Mass
I am a firm believer in this quote. I honestly didn't understand it as fully as I could have when I first heard it, but now I can say that I do. After receiving multiple invisible illness diagnoses, I know what it's like to fight an internal battle that no one else can see. I know that it's hard for some people to believe in the things that they don't see, but that shouldn't be an excuse. We should be kind to everyone because there is just no way that we can possibly know what they are going through.
I hope tonight's post has given you a little bit more insight on the person behind the Perfectly Ambitious blog. Each of these quotes means something special to me and I would love to help you guys get to know me better! I've been considering doing a Q & A session for a while now, so feel free to send me some questions!
Now that I've shared a little bit with you guys, I'd love to get to know each of you better too! Feel free to tell me a little bit about yourselves or your favorite quotes in the comments!
