Product Review: Shutterfly Notebook

Usually Shutterfly is my go to for all things photo related, but mostly prints and photo books. On occasion, I'll receive offers for free gifts in my email and I almost always take advantage of them. Just like I did with this Shutterfly mouse pad!

So, when I got the offer email for a free gift, I just knew that I had to check it out! The offer was for any any of the following gifts:

  • One set of playing cards
  • One mouse pad
  • One 5x8 notebook
  • One iPhone slim case

Personally, Zach and I don't play cards very often. We usually stick to board games and it just so happened that we received a free deck of cards from Veteran's United after purchasing our home. So we definitely didn't need those!

Next was the mouse pad. Lucky for us, we already got a free one from Shutterfly and since we only have one desktop, we didn't really need another mouse pad.

That left the notebook and the iPhone case. Honestly, there wasn't much of decision to be made. The only time that I take off my OtterBox case is to get the cat hair out of it. So, that left the notebook. It actually worked out though, because I am constantly running out of notebooks!

Review:
As it always is, the design process was a breeze! I simply followed the link in my email and selected the notebook I liked best. Once I saw that they had an art library, I decided to take a look through it.

I've always been the kind of person that sticks to the basics, so I wanted to do something different this time. I actually surprised myself! Although I was drawn to the blue watercolor prints, I decided to go with an abstract pink photograph.

After rethinking my decision, I realized that the photo by itself was a little too pink for me. So, I included text on the bottom of the cover. I matched the background to the darkest part of the photo and filled it in. I then added my blog name as well as my own into the box. I originally wanted to do a different text color, but I ended up going with black to match the coils.

Once I made the finishing touches, I simply placed the order and patiently awaited my happy mail! After about a week or two, it finally arrived and it looked just like I imagined it would!

I have to say, I was a tad bit worried that the notebook wasn't going to look good. The text looked a little blurry on the computer and I was afraid that it would blur on the notebook as well. Thankfully, it didn't!

I'm also very impressed with the notebook itself! The front and back covers are very sturdy and I shouldn't have to worry about them falling off like some of my past notebook covers have. In addition, the paper itself is very nice. Many of the notebooks that I use have flimsy paper that you can see through and this paper is a little bit thicker.

The only thing that I wasn't too fond of was just that I couldn't select what the pages would look like. I like the lined pages that were provided, but sometimes I like a completely blank notebook as well.

Overall, I would definitely recommend the Shutterfly notebooks. There are a wide variety of designs to choose from and you can even upload your own design. In addition, you can also upload your own photos or use some of theirs too!

Have you ordered from Shutterfly before? I'd love to hear about your experience.
